1 Midhope Castle Lallybroch
Visit Jamie Fraser’s ancestral home – Lallybroch .
Midhope Castle, a 16th-century tower house, is used as Lallybroch (also known as Broch Tuarach) in Outlander . Left to Jamie by his parents, Brian and Ellen, Lallybroch is also home to Jamie’s sister, Jenny, her husband Ian Murray and their children. 2 Doune Castle – Castle Leoch
Built around 1400, Doune Castle’s towering gatehouse and magnificent Great Hall are instantly recognizable. It’s here Claire first encounters the world of 18th-century Scotland. Standing inside its medieval walls feels like stepping directly into those early, unforgettable episodes.
You’ll explore the courtyard , chambers and the Great Hall while the Outlander stories on TV start to become real — and the real Scottish history that shaped the drama. Doune also features in Game of Thrones , Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the Outlaw King and Mary, Queen of Scots .

3 Craigh na Dun
On the south side of the Dunalastair Reservoir in Tay Forest Park under the gaze of Schiehallion mountain, this is scenic Highlands at its best. You will recognise the mound from the roadside and it’s just a short walk out to the site. Kinnloch Rannoch was used in numerous other scenes , mainly because it’s one of the most remote and beautiful areas in the country. The standing stones in the TV series are set up for filming , but they are not there permanently . The mystical and enchanting spot where Claire and Frank first come across the standing stones that soon after were to propel Claire back in time. They have been an ever present since, including in Season four .
Craigh na Dun features in the final episode of season 8 .
