1  The Kelpies

The Kelpies are 100 feet high and each one was made from 300 tonnes of steel . The Kelpies are a tribute to the Clydesdale horses used to pull barges along the canals of Scotland in the 19th century .

Andy Scott based his design on two Clydesdale horses – Duke and Baron . In ten years the Kelpies have had over 7 million visitors. Kelpies gifts and souvenirs can be bought online . 2 The Falkirk Wheel

Visit the only rotating boat lift in the world . Explore the Falkirk Wheel on our Private Falkirk tours. The Falkirk Wheel replaced nine locks on the Union Canal , saving travellers half a day on the journey to Edinburgh . The Falkirk Wheel is the only rotating boat lift in the world , designed to transfer boats from the Forth and Clyde Canal to the Union Canal . A boat trip over the Falkirk Wheel is available from April to November ( not included in the tour price ) .

“David was very accommodating. We had very foggy weather in the morning and could not see the Kelpies so he adjusted our schedule so that we would be able to see them later in the day. He gave us extra time to get everything in which we really appreciated. There definitely was not enough time at Stirling Castle. This stop should be a minimum of two hours as the guided tour is one hour, then there is no extra time to see anything else. Overall, it was well worth the day.”
