Midhope was built in the 15th Century and was built by John Martyne, laird of Medhope ,  It was rebuilt in the mid 1600s and remains much the same today,

Visitors are asked to admire Midhope from a distance as the interior is inaccessible .

Midhope Castle / Lallybroch is a derelict property and dangerous at the moment to enter. Although external scenes were shot at the castle , none of the filming of Lallybroch interior scenes in Outlander took place inside the castle itself.
