World exclusive Outlander news ! Filming at Craigh na dun started 20 September ! We now know from season 7 episode 2 who travels through the stones .
Yesterday I visited Craigh na Dun on tour and I was amazed to see the standing stones there in the middle of Craigh na Dun .
There are 20 Moviemaker trailers nearby and Outlander filming is in progress . We now know that filming is taking place at 2 locations at the same time – Lallybroch and Craigh na Dun . But which characters are filming at each location ? Claire and Jamie , or Brianna and Roger ?

The local road to Craigh na Dun is shut for 3 days so there will be a lot of filming going on there .
Finding the exact spot of Craigh na Dun is not immediately clear but the site of filming is at Kinloch Rannoch in Perthshire. On the south side of the Dunalastair Reservoir in Tay Forest Park under the gaze of the spectacular Schiehallion mountain, this is scenic Highlands at its best. You will recognise the mound from the roadside and it’s just a short walk out to the site. Kinloch Rannoch was used in numerous other scenes , mainly because it’s one of the most remote and beautiful areas in the country.
The mystical and enchanting spot where Claire and Frank first come across the standing stones that soon after were to propel Claire back in time. They have been an ever present since, including in Season four . No standing stones actually exist here but I think they are based on a combination of Clava Cairns and Callanish , both of which are outstanding Scottish tourist sites. Even without the presence of the colossal pillars, this spot in Perthshire is a fantastic selection as Craigh na Dun with stunning views of the Perthshire countryside.
