Outlander was filmed in locations all over Scotland .

The opening sequence features Glencoe in the Highlands of Scotland .

Claire and Frank Randall are on second honeymoon in Inverness after the end of the war .

Claire is seen looking at a vase in a shop window.

These scenes in Inverness and Mrs Baird guest house were filmed in the village of Falkland in Fife . 

Claire and Frank visit Doune Castle which , with a lot of Cgi made it much older and more ruined than it actually is.

Frank mentions his ancestor, and they go down into the cellar and have sex.

Jamie is seen looking at Claire in the window at the guest house . Frank sees Jamie and walks up to him but Jamie walks off.

Frank asks Claire if it might have been one of her patients .

Next day Claire and Frank watch the dance of druids at dawn at the stones . Claire notices the bluebells  and returns in the afternoon.

This is a major turning point in the story for Claire as she touches the stones and is thrown back 2 centuries .Claire finds Black Jack Randall standing at a stream and he grabs her . She is rescued by the Mackenzies and hides from the redcoat soldiers . 

 They all go back to Castle Leoch ( Doune Castle ) where Claire meets Jamie for the first time and fixes Jamie’s arm .
